FAQ

Common questions

Choosing a consultant

Why not a large consulting firm?

Large firms bring broad teams. We bring the engineers you meet on the first call, and they do the work: people who have commissioned ammonia trains and run power and water plants. The method is tested the way a verifier would test it (72 / 72 rule statements, 28 / 28 checks on the Commission's worked examples), and you buy it in small fixed-price phases.

Why not go straight to the verifier?

A verifier checks numbers; it may not prepare the numbers it verifies. Someone has to set the boundary, build the monitoring plan and do the calculation. That is our work, or your own team's: we can train your engineers (the CBAM course and the allocation workshop) or review their file before the verifier sees it.

What experience stands behind HA Consulting?

Our engineers' track record: emission allocation for CBAM at a fertilizer producer and a cement producer, RFNBO eligibility of a brownfield ammonia plant (85.7% GHG savings, audited precertification), and the GHG terms of a 70 kt/a renewable ammonia offtake. The technical lead brings 15+ years in ammonia, hydrogen and utilities. Track record

Can you work with us remotely?

Yes. Most of the work runs from your documents and figures, shared under NDA, with a review call at each gate. We come to site where the work needs it: a plant walk-round, an in-house course, or the verifier's visit.

Which language do you work in?

Proposals, reports, workbooks and course material are in English. If your team needs a session in another language, ask on the first call.

Working together

Do you verify or certify?

No. We prepare the numbers, the monitoring plan and the evidence. Verification is done by an accredited verifier, which may not prepare the numbers it verifies. We can introduce you to accredited verifiers.

Should we use actual values or the EU defaults?

It depends on your tonnage to the EU, your metering and your emissions against the default. Phase 0 answers it in 3–5 days, with the certificate cost both ways.

Why two companies, and which one do we sign with?

US and international clients sign with HA Consulting LLC, registered in Georgia, USA, and pay in USD. Egyptian and MENA clients sign with HA For General Supplies LLC, which operates our Mansoura branch, and pay in EGP or USD, with Egyptian VAT and an e-invoice. The engineers, the method and the checks are the same either way, with one contract, one invoice and one point of contact per engagement.

Who will work on our project?

Our technical lead on every emission engagement, with the associate engineer for your sector where it helps: power plants, cement and steel, water, or construction.

Will you sign an NDA before we share data?

Yes. We sign your NDA, or send a mutual one, before any plant data, contract or drawing is shared. A first call needs no confidential data at all.

Does our plant data leave our site?

The CBAM tool runs offline on your own computer, with sign-in. Files are shared only with the people working on your job.

How are you paid?

Fixed price per phase. A deposit before each phase, the balance when you accept its result. The next phase is quoted only after that, and you can stop at any gate. Prices are in USD for US work and in EGP or USD for Egyptian work.

What if the verifier disagrees with a number?

The file shows where each number comes from, which rule it follows and which assumptions were made, so a query can be traced back to its source. Where the verifier asks for more evidence or another reading of a rule, we work through it with you. The verifier's opinion stays theirs alone: that independence is what gives your number its value.

Courses and design

Are your courses accredited qualifications?

No. HA Academy courses are practical training with a certificate of attendance. They are not accredited auditor or verifier qualifications.

Do you design water or power plants?

We do concept design, technical specifications and design review. Detailed and stamped design is done by licensed partner firms.

What should we have ready for a first call?

Your products and CN codes, tonnes shipped to the EU last year, a process flow or block diagram, and what your customers have asked for. Or, for a contract review, the draft or signed LTSA. Rough numbers are fine.

A question we did not answer?

Ask it on a call, or write to us. Rough numbers are fine.
